Session templates
A template is a reusable gym session — the blocks, exercises, sets, reps and prescriptions, saved once and assigned to athletes or whole squads as often as you like.
Who can use it: admins and coaches.
Personal and team templates
The Templates page splits into:
- My personal templates — the ones you authored. You can edit these.
- Team templates — templates any coach has published to the team. These are read-only copies everyone can assign.
Filter by name, session type (full body / upper / lower) and phase tag (your organisation's periodisation labels — off-season, pre-season, in-season, transition; managed in Settings).
Building one
New template opens the builder. Add blocks, and within each block add exercises from the library with their prescription — sets, reps, and a target expressed as RPE, reps-in-reserve, a load in kg, or bodyweight. You can group exercises into supersets and add conditioning blocks with formats like AMRAP or EMOM.
When it's ready you can publish to team (creating the read-only shared copy) or keep it personal.
Sharing across organisations
Templates are portable. Export downloads a self-contained .underdog.json
file — exercises ride along by slug with their full definitions embedded, so the
template carries everything it needs. Import (paste the JSON or upload the
file) creates a personal copy in your org and recreates any custom exercises that
don't exist yet. That's how you move a programme between clubs you coach, or share
one with a colleague.
Assigning
From a template's detail page, Assign lets you push it to a squad or to individual athletes on a date. That assignment then lives in Gym plans, and what athletes complete against it shows up in Gym sessions and the engagement heatmap.
